Cirac mid-1960s. Bead front sight on sweated-on island base with side slots for a sight hood and a stippled ramp. Sling eye on boss soldered onto underside of barrel ahead of forearm. Engraved "John Rigby & Co 28 Sackville St London W1". Rear sight with stippled ramps with a fixed standing sight and two folding leaves, for 100, 200, and 300 yards, all with gold express lines. Rigth side of barrel shank with a British nitro proof at 19 tons. Fore ring with "RIGBY'S .375 H&H MAGNUM FOR BIG GAME" and fit with an aluminum side-saddle mount, mounted with a Supra 2.5-6x scope of QD mounts. Rear ring partially stippled for anti-glare, bolt handle with classic five-panel checkering. Bottom metal with "MADE IN ENGLAND" and roped borders, magazine baseplate with "CALIBRE .375 H&H" with rope en suite. Trigger guard with "6160" Rigby serial and rope borders. Pistol grip with tang safety, "SAFE" ahead of slide. Darkly toned walnut stock with point pattern checkering about the forearm, reinforcement bolt under fore ring, pistol grip with a horn cap, checkered about the wrist, with German silver oval and sling eye on toe line. Orange rubber recoil pad with covered screws. In a leather tabbed forest green canvas wrapped case lined in sea-green, with Rigby trade labels in lid, cleaning rod, wiping cloth, solvent funnel, Rigby oil bottle, and leather wallet with mop and brush. CONDITION: Barrel and action with virtually all of a rebluing, with some softening to legends and scattered pinprick oxidation visible under the bluing. Some thinning to sharp edges, most noticeable on scope mount. Stocks very good with some handling marks and impressions. Checkering recut. Mechanically fine, bore excellent with strong rifling and some mild frosting. Glass clear. Case very good, some lining and partitions replaced. Accessories very good. A great big game rifle from one of London's best.
