Circa 1877 per serial number. Full sized front sight, top of barrel with Colt's Pall Mall one line address, and small, discrete British view and proofs mark son underside of barrel ahead of cylinder axel pin. Ejector rod housing with bullseye ejector head. Chambers each proofed with a miniscule British proof, alternating between view and proof marks. Three line patent date on left side of frame, and "45 CAL / B" on left side of trigger guard subframe. With smooth walnut one piece grips. Matching numbers observed on frame, trigger guard, butt, and inside back channel of grips. Housed in an English style case with vacant brass escutcheon in lid, and Colt's trade label in lid with instructions and Colt's information. Compartment with bone pull houses accessories comprising L screwdriver, pewter oil pot, and key. 24 slot cartridge block with top only. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining virtually all of the original nickel finish, with some clouding and surface scratches common to the finish. Some thinning at the muzzle, and spotting to trigger guard and front strap but very subdued. Mechanically fine, bore excellent with strong rifling and some soft frosting. Case with some rubs through the baise and right side compartment is a little loose, but whole. Trade label foxed but crisp and legible. Only 729 .450 Boxers were produced, making prime ones like this exceptionally rare.
