Production of the Type 2 paratrooper rifle began in 1943 featuring a simplified central takedown system. This pristine example remains in standard configuration with full blued finish, protected blade front sight, anti-aircraft rear sight, finger groove handguard, and two piece butt stock. Intact imperial chrysanthemum. Matching "547" assembly numbers observed on both sections of the takedown device. The matching "924" last 2 digits of the serial number also observed on bolt components and front band. Complete with original canvas sling. CONDITION: Excellent, likely un-issued. Approximately 98% original blue. Stocks are fine with light impressions. Bright bore. Fine bolt face showing very little use, possibly only factory proofing. Fine mechanics. Sling mounts retains significant portions of black painted finish. Sling webbing is largely clean with a few oxidation stains. A truly outstanding example of a very desirable WWII rifle that would be difficult to improve on.
