Dovetail lump barrel with steel bead front sight on a solid, tapering, matte rib with "REMINGTON ARMS CO ILLION NY USA" in matting towards rear. Underside of barrels with Remington control codes, "46" on lump, and serial number under right tube. Fit with ejectors. Splinter forearm fitted with the reinforced Anson plunger release, checkered in a point pattern about the body, lightly engraved with wrigglework and geometrics. Interior iron with matching serial number, and a reinforcement on rear of plunger tube. Case color box lock action lightly engraved with wrigglework borders, a small sprig of acanthus scroll near hinge pin. Double triggers with long tang and automatic safety & "SAFE" ahead of slide. Walnut stock with side panels, a Prince of Wales pistol grip, checkered in point-and-wave pattern about the wrist, fluted nose of comb, and a checkered RA monogram butt plate. CONDITION: Barrels with the vast majority of the Damascus finish with some spots of silvering, mostly around where forearm makes contact with a heavy rub adjacent lump (under barrel). Some normal thinning to sharp edges and a spot or two of surface oxidation. Forearm exhibits sharp checkering with in interior splice (factory ?) that reinforces the release rod (not visible from exterior). Action with approximately 90% of the case colors, most still brilliant, with silvering at the sharp edges, carry points, and recoil shields. Stock is excellent with some scattered handling marks and impressions. Bores excellent, bright and shiny, mechanically fine, ejectors strong and in time. An eye catching example of a nearly impossible to find antique high grade shotgun.
