Manufactured in 1876. This 3rd model rifle features a full octagon barrel and tube, dovetailed front sight, folding ladder rear sight, walnut stock, rifle buttplate with trap, matching forearm, and swivels. With stock removed, you can see the four digit matching number stamped in the channel, an R stamp on left tang and matching four digit number on the butt plate. Left side of barrel is stamped with a rack number "j201". With exception to the swivels and sights, all parts on this gun have nickel finish. CONDITION: Fine. Frame retains at least 85% nickel with high edge brass showing through, some age freckling, minor handling marks, screw heads are true with some blue still intact. Loading gate retains 40% nickel, 60% on lever, traces on hammer, 40% on butt plate with 70% on the barrel, 20-30% on the tube. Wood to metal fit is precise. Wood is solid, in excellent condition, with usual impressions. The two line Winchester barrel legend is crisp. Bore is well defined with some residue abrasion. Clean and handsome special order rifle.
