Originally sold as a set of 4 World War I Commemorative 1911s with matching serial numbers, collectors with the full set were offered 2 additional World War II Commemorative guns when they were later issued by Colt. This set includes all 6 pistols each numbered "6148" followed by their individual model suffix. The WWI guns commemorate the battles of Belleau Wood, Meuse-Argonne, The 2nd Battle of the Marne, and Chateau Thierry, each with commemorative engraving, lustrous high polish blue finish, and grips inset with commemorative motifs. Each is housed in their correct display case. This set also includes both the brilliantly nickel plated, commemoratively engraved European and Pacific Theatre 1911A1 pistols. These pistols are also housed in their correct hinged lid presentation style display cases. Each pistol is discreetly import marked along the edge of the magazine well. CONDITION: Excellent. Guns retain virtually all of their factory finishes with scattered handling marks. Meuse-Argonne gun has crazing on the grips. Cases show some scattered marks and minor wear from storage and display. The Chateau Thierry case shows a partial rebuild, the lid no longer sitting correctly. Belleau Wood case also has some minor repairs on the lid. A hard to find set.
