This is a work-in progress, rewelded, and Fleming registered World War II New England Small Arms manufactured receiver with a WWI Marlin barrel dated “8-18” and a WW II brown bakelite buttstock with provision for monopod. No other Browning Automatic Rifle parts or magazine are present in this lot. Front and rear sight are present as well as flaming bomb proofmarks on barrel and receiver. Also present on barrel are British proofmarks. Left side of receiver has added manufacturer’s markings, “FLEM” over “FLEMING FIRE ARMS C’VILLE, OK USA” with added, “INC” and “COLLINSVILLE” also. This receiver was clearly in two pieces and professionally rewelded together with the joint being a little more than 3/4" to the rear of the front of the ejection port. The outside has been milled smooth, but the bead of weld remains on the inside of the receiver. The dimensions appear to be on spec, but the work on the inside of the receiver remains to be done. Electronic NFA registry indicates, “FLEMING, WILLIAM DBA FLEMING FIREARMS” as the manufacturer. PROVENANCE: From the machine gun collection of William “Happiness is a Warm Machine Gun” Fleming. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is a mixture of extremely fine original smooth gray finish with areas of gray patina where the receiver has been worked on. Composite buttstock is extremely fine with handling marks. The bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. The Browning automatic rifle is one of the most popular machine guns out on the range, and once one has acquired the appropriate parts, and with the appropriate effort, it could be restored to a firing condition and bring a lot of enjoyment to the new owner. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2025-09-111.
