This MP-40 has a receiver tube which was cut and then precisely rewelded together with the seam of the weld concealed under the magazine housing once the housing was reinstalled on the tube. As such, the original markings are retained. There are added “Fleming Firearms Inc / Collinsville, OK” added with electro pencil on left side of receiver tube opposite the ejection port, and “FLEMING FIREARMS C’VILLE, OK” markings on the lower left side of the reciver tube, about 6" forward of the rear of the tube. The right rear of the receiver tube where it fits into the lower has sustained a bit of damage and there has been some rewelding at the locking lug. The tube fits securely, perhaps a bit too tightly, in the lower assembly, but this cataloger had no issue field stripping this gun. This is a very nice MP-40 with clear “WaA 623” markings on receiver tube forward of magazine housing, with “bnz 42” marked lower assembly. Barrel resting bar is black bakelite. No muzzle nut nor magazine present, but these are readily available. Visible numbers are matching including the bolt, which is missing the bolt lock slide. Electronic NFA registry indicates, “FLEMING,WILLIAM DBA FLEMING FIREARMS” as the manufacturer. PROVENANCE: From the machine gun collection of William “Happiness is a Warm Machine Gun” Fleming. CONDTION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine original finish with some turning to a brown and gray patina. One can discern the heat distortion lines at the magazine housing lip just forward of the charging handle slot, but this is not really noticeable unless one looks for it. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face extremely fine. Bakelite lower and grips are near excellent with light handling marks. Mechanics are crisp. This is a full-auto only machine gun. An MP-40 which presents very well with original markings in evidence. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
