This is an original Inland Arms manufactured model 1919A4 Browning air-cooled machine gun on an unmarked M2 tripod, with traverse and elevation mechanism and pintle. There is also an original green canvas cover included with his gun. This gun has the later top cover latch which has a knurled stud which moves forward on the top cover to release. Bolt is unmarked and bottom plate of receiver has U.S. drawing number. Safety bar present on right side of receiver. The Browning 1919A4 machine guns were used during World War II and remained in service through the Korea and Vietnam eras. Electronic NFA Registry indicates “BROWNING ARMS CO” as the manufacturer. PROVENANCE: From the Estate collection of Dolf L. Goldsmith. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is near excellent gray matte refinish with some loss of finish to a gray patina where the safety lever touches the receiver and also thinning on the barrel shroud. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine. Tripod has a dull gray finish. This is a full-auto only machine gun. This gun presents very nicely indeed. A classic Browning machine gun which is a mainstay at machine gun shooting events. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
