This is an original Colt Vickers receiver box which has been rebuilt into a fluted jacket British Vickers machine gun. There are 7.62 Russian conversion parts included with this gun which include a barrel, feedblock, and lock. Also included with this gun are a drab green painted Vickers tripod, wooden ammo can and one brass-tabbed .303 cloth belt. Water fill and drain caps present with original brass chain, (no cork assembly). Sideplates have the gun serial number about 3" to the rear of the feedblock. Variety of markings on parts, including the backplate which is “DP” marked. This gun appears to be completely serviceable and coming from the collection of Dolf Goldsmith, one can be pretty confident he kept this gun in good running order. Electronic NFA registry indicates “COLT” as the manufacturer of this gun. PROVENANCE: From the Estate collection of Dolf L. Goldsmith. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent as refinished upon remanufacture with attractive deep green repainted finish in jacket and bulbous muzzle attachment with some loss of finish at the mounting contact points. Wood handles of backplate are extremely fine with handling marks. Bores of both barrels are extremely fine, shiny and bright. Lock faces are extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a full-auto only machine gun. Tripod, and tripod head have a nice drab green paint, which could well be from WW2 service period. An extremely attractive belt-fed machine guns only made more so with the presence of conversion parts to shoot this gun using the popular 7.62x54R Russian cartridge.
