Factory original three-position "S.E.F." selector Heckler & Koch MP5 registered receiver machine gun. The gun was manufactured in 1984 according to “IE” mark on top of the receiver. Marked, “Made in W – Germany / HK Chantily, Va.” on right side of Magazine well, and “HK MP5” on top of receiver. This cataloger needs to emphasize the fact that this is a factory original MP5, not a remanufactured, or installed auto-sear gun. This specimen incorporates a fixed stock and horizontal fore-end. One original, curved, “Made in Germany” original German H & K manufactured magazine is included with this gun. The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (BATF) has determined that this gun has met the requirements of, “26 U.S.C. 5844(1) government use import exception"; and therefore is fully transferable. NFA Electronic registry indicates, “HECKLER AND KOCH GMBH” as the manufacturer. PROVENANCE: A redacted copy of an official letter from the BATF to the consignor, identifying this weapon by serial number which verifies this gun has no restrictions. Also a redacted copy of the incoming transfer form to Morphy Auctions upon which no restriction is noted. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original finish. Composite furnishings of buttstock and pistol grip are near excellent. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. The few factory original Heckler and Koch guns which are becoming fully transferable to individuals will undoubtedly command a premium now, and into the foreseeable future. This is something for the discerning and forward- thinking collector/investor as well as the shooting enthusiast.
