DLO registered Westinghouse Browning model 1917 water cooled machine gun with unreinforced bottom of receiver box. “N.E. WESTINGHOUSE CO” markings on right sideplate above, “DOUGLAS L. OEFINGER STAMFORD CT U.S.A.”. Depending upon when DLO produced sideplates they would often incorporate original military contract maker’s markings to enhance attractiveness of these items to collectors. Attractive bronze trunnion and nose cap with fine water drain plug and cork with steel chain. Original U.S. Model of 1918 tripod with original bronze identification plate still present on center leg, water can, and steam hose are included with this lot. Tripod Medallion indicates, “THE WINTON COMPANY / CLEVELAND, OH”. Electronic NFA registry indicates “OEFINGER, DOUGLAS DBA DLO MFG” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance of gun is extremely fine smooth original finish thinning to a pleasing gray patina in places, more so near the high edges. Bolt is un-marked on top. Bore has strong shiny rifling just starting to get dark in the grooves. Bolt face is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a full-auto only machine gun. Tripod has been repainted with an attractive green. Overall a very attractive looking Browning with no dents in the water jacket on a correct vintage tripod.
