Very seldom encountered original WWII Finnish maxim machine gun parts kit on original Finnish tripod. This is really quite an exceptional find as it has an extremely rare original imperial Russian marked fusee cover, together with the left sideplate and other parts to make it a fine display piece. No right sideplate present. The top cover is dated “3/42”, and although the parts on this gun are non-matching, is does have the correct drum type rear sight, backplate, feedblock, and bottom backplate retention pin which pulls double duty as a broken case extractor. The trunnion is made of desirable brass as is the water fill cap and drain plug. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish ranges from very little finish on the undented water jacket showing gray and brown patina to far more original blue finish on the top cover with brown and gray patina on the lock, check lever, feed block, and backplate. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Lock face is extremely fine. Tripod paint is peeling and showing gray and brown patina and would benefit from quality clean-up and repaint. Any Finnish parts kit is in high demand, and this one, with the left sideplate attached, Imperial Russian fusee cover, and tripod sets this offering apart and above any other parts set this cataloger has seen offered.
