Attractive Birmingham Small Arms (BSA) Lewis model 1914 with original “A. L & CO” bipod, seven 47 round pan magazines, and an AA sight included with this lot as well as a loading tool, spare .303 barrel, and transit chest. Mismatched serial number on action cover with typical, struck-through serial number replaced with “A” prefix number prior to importation into the U.S.A. British proof marks in evidence in numerous places. Early buttstock not retrofitted with oil canister. Electronic NFA registry indicates “BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS” in the manufacturer’s block. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is very good to fine original finish thinning significantly to a pleasing gray patina. Wood exhibits typical handling marks for this vintage of a gun and there is a small chunk out of the right grip panel. The pan magazines exhibit substantially more finish, with two annotated “Jams”, one annotated, “good”, and the others without annotation. Two of the pans are of the earlier type. Bores of both barrels are extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp and smooth. This is a full auto only machine gun. Anybody who has shot a Lewis gun knows what fun they are, in addition to being a fine collector’s item associated with WWI. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2025-09-234.
