Circa 1880 to 1890. French device invented by Stanislas Limousin in 1850 for masking the taste of bitter medicine powders. The device made rice flour shells (cachets) to hold the disagreeable tasting drug. Cachets were dipped in water prior to taking, and they would collapse for easy swallowing. Box labeling in French: "Indispensable for the use of drug cachets." Box with some damage. Lot includes a box of Konseals, which are cachets from a similar American device.
