After the conclusion of World War II, the United States' weapon aid program supplied Norway with many Browning 1919A4 and 1918A2 machine guns. After Norway's adoption of the MG3 in the late 1950s the decision was made to have a new cradle and mount designed which utilized the existing stocks of 1919A4 M2 tripods for the MG3. These cradles were manufactured by DISA (Dansk Industri Syndikat A/S), and feature a unique hybrid design of both the German MG-42's buffered cradle and the 1919A4's mounting system. The mount is fitted with a 1919A4 pintle mount in the front, with a standard T&E mechanism in the rear. The rear of the mount is marked "MADSEN / DISA / (Danish crest) / 1364". Cradle is complete with a 1919A4 M2 tripod. CONDITION: Metal components on tripod retain the majority of their parkerized finish exhibiting some scattered areas of wear from storage and handling. Tripod retains large amounts of its blue finish, exhibiting scattered areas of wear and areas of thinning. Tripod pintle latch is broken, but present. A very nice example of a unique MG3 mount! -MLW-
