Cloth covered pressed cork helmet, with Marine Corps eagle globe and anchor front plate, side buttons and cruciform spike base. Visor interiors lined with green cotton. Leather sweatband with Horstmann contract stamp and dated 1899. Front plate held fast by single screw post with incorrect nut which leaves the plate loose. CONDITION: The cork body is excellent with no breaks. White cotton exterior with an area of brown discoloration. DG
