Smith & Wesson's first revolver larger than .22 caliber, the Model 2 was a favorite sidearm of many officers of the American Civil war. This very fine example has a standard 6" barrel and is chambered in .32 rimfire. Period engraved in a typical New York style. Fully silver plated with two piece ivory grips. Fitted in a very nice deluxe "french fitted" mahogany case with cartridge block, wood cleaning rod, brass oiler, and correct key. CONDITION: Excellent overall with 95%+ silver plating. Bore is very good with scattered pitting, action functions properly. Grips are excellent with nice mellow age. Case is excellent with a few scratches and dents, interior is original and excellent overall. MKS CORRECTION: Great news! This gun has a factory letter indicating it was shipped in 1871 to M.W. Robinson with 55 other guns, and that ten are factory engraved. However, factory records do not indicate which guns are engraved. Serial number is 73434.
