Serial number 10092, manufactured in 1851. Matching serial numbers on all major components including the loading lever and wedge. Octagon to round 7 - 1/2" barrel marked "ADDRESS SAM'L COLT NEW-YORK CITY". Blue with case hardened frame, loading lever, and hammer. Brass square back style trigger guard and brass backstrap. Sub-inspection letter "H" stamped on top of backstrap. Sub-inspection letter "P" stamped on left side of trigger bow, and letter "G" in front of trigger bow. Sub-inspection letter "H" stamped on bottom of barrel lug. Faint inspection stamps on left side of loading lever, frame, and hammer. One piece oil finished walnut grips with sub-inspection letter "H" on top left side near frame, inspection cartouches on both sides. Frame marked left side in three lines "COLT'S/PATENT/U.S.". Cylinder with square locking slots, W.L. Ormsby's roll die Texas Ranger and Indian fight scene, marked "MODEL U.S.M.R.", "COLT'S PATENT", sub-inspection letter "H" and serial number 10092. CONDITION: Excellent overall with approximately 20% original blue on barrel turning a pleasing blue/brown patina. Traces of original blue on cylinder with strong roll die scene and markings, moderate to light pitting around nipples. Traces of original case color on loading lever and frame turning to patina. Trigger guard and backstrap is a light mustard color patina. Grips are excellent showing moderate wear with strong cartouches and sub-inspection mark. Excellent original unmolested screws. Action is smooth and crisp, locks up tight. Overall an outstanding martially marked Second Model Dragoon that would would be most difficult to improve on. -MKS-
