Wonderful original Colt Model 1883 Gatling gun in .43 Spanish caliber on original gray paint wheeled mount. Includes both sets of original sights on both sides. Stands just under 46” high without Accles feed drum in place. Overall length of gun from muzzle to casabel is just under 43”. Muzzle to trail is 76”. Outer hub to hub is 55”. Wheels stand 46” high. Includes one original Accles feed drum with steel internals. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine unpolished brass casing with typical dings and little scuffs. Visible finish of blued steel barrels is extremely fine. Traverse and elevation handles and elevation bar have near excellent lustrous blue finish. Carriage has extremely fine original gray paint coverage with some expected chips and scuffs revealing some brown patina. Original wood wheels are extremely fine to near excellent with a couple cracks just starting at the hubs. Remains completely strong and serviceable. Steel tires retain about 50% of their black paint with the rest worn to gray patina at the contact points. Each of the barrels and bolts were examined and all the bolts were functional with good firing pins. Two bolts were pitted, three rated good with some brown patina, with the other five rated very good. They were numbered in sequence 1 through 9 with no #4 present, two #8’s and one un-numbered. Barrels all had strong rifling somewhat darker and more pitted closer to the muzzle getting progressively better to shiny and quite fine as one observed the rifling towards the receiver. A common phenomenon of these Gatling guns. Mechanics are crisp and positive. Just a great presenting original Colt Gatling gun with the carriage being an especially nice part of this ensemble.
