Chambered for the Sharps .40-70 SS cartridge this Model 1878 Mid-Range rifle with 30" round barrel and deluxe extra finish checkered pistol grips stocks with Mid-Range dial adjustable tang sight. Barrel is marked "OLD RELIABLE SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT CONN." and has ladder adjustable rear sight. Case colored receiver has gutta percha side inserts. Fancy varnished walnut stocks are deluxe checkered and highly figured. CONDITION: Very fine with the barrel retaining well over 95% original factory finish. The bore is excellent with sharp lands and grooves. The front sight is not present. The receiver is very fine with soft case colors visible and slight salt and pepper spotting at belly. The wood stocks are exceptional with most all varnish remaining, checkering is sharp and gutta percha Sharps buttplate is solid and intact. TDW
