Dated 1314 in the Islamic calendar, translating to 1896 in the traditional Western Gregorian calendar. A superb and essentially untouched specimen with all proper markings. Serial number 371. Sight graduated in Farsi. Floorplate and follower numbered 377 and mismatched numbers are not uncommon in military pistols. Grips numbered 371. Gun has the tughra of Sultan Abdul-Hamid II. Additionally, this ultra rarity bears IRS3833B from the days when shoulder stock pistols had to be registered with the federal government. CONDITION: Mechanically excellent. Gun retains most of its original pasty blue finish with minor marks from military storage. Grips retain little or no original varnish and show some wear with one significant gouge on right grip. Bore rates excellent for a Conehammer Mauser with clearly defined lands and grooves and no appreciable pitting. The two similar examples that have been sold in the past decade have have each brought well in excess of $25,000. This is an extremely rare and essentially untouched Turkish Conehammer. Comes with a stock numbered to a different gun (068) in good condition with handling marks. MZ
