Rifle was built in 1895. Like most 1892 Krag rifles, this one was upgraded at the arsenal in 1896 to include a new barrel with the rounded crown, an 1896 rear sight and handguard, and a new stock which bears the 1896 dated cartouche "JSA" for Joseph Adams. Rifle has the Model 1896 fire blue two piece extractor, the original 1892 serrated bolt sleeve and the new trap door butt plate. Frame has the 1894 date and the 1896 forward barrel band without the guide. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel is a smooth blue grey hue. Case colors are mottled. Bright fire blue on extractor. Legends are sharp. Stock is superb with only minor handling and bold cartouche and script proof P at base. Bore is strong but lightly frosted. Rifle comes with an early one frog sling and a bayonet dated 1895 with metal sheath and hanger.
