Extremely early import G3 rifle manufactured by Heckler & Koch and imported by Santa Fe Division, Golden State Arms. The left side of the receiver is stamped "G3 MK 2087/ HK 3/62". These "3/62" coded rifles are among the very first Heckler & Koch G3s to be imported by Santa Fe Division of the Golden State Arms Corporation, with this example being 1 of only approximately 20 rifles included in the first shipment that was imported into the United States, with subsequent imports having been altered to further distinguish these semi-automatic rifles from Heckler & Koch's G3 battle rifle. The left side of the trigger pack housing is stamped "MADE IN GERMANY FOR / (Sante Fe Division logo) / SANTA FE DIVISION / GOLDEN STATE ARMS CORPORATION / CALIFORNIA - U.S.A. / CAL 7,62 mm NATO". 2-position selector lever is marked "S" and "E", with the 3rd position being inaccessible via a raised dimple on the left side. Bolt carrier is marked "HK 4/62", with the bolt being marked "HK 3/62". Metal components exhibit a gray phosphate finish, with additional features including a venilated wood forend, black polymer pistol grip, solid wood buttstock, as well as a standard G3 pattern post front sight & adjustable drum rear sight. Numbers are matching via the last 3-digits of the receiver serial number and include the trigger pack housing, as well as the buttstock socket. This example is accompanied by 1 "G3 HK" over "5/62" marked 20-round magazine, an early unmarked G3 cleaning kit, as well as a proper brown leather sling. CONDITION: Excellent, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original factory applied phosphate finish, exhibiting some minor superficial markings from storage and handling, with some markings lightly showing through to silvering. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well defined rifling throughout. Bolt is extremely fine, appearing to have not be fired since leaving the factory. Wood furniture is excellent, showing a few minor marks from storage and handling. Highly sought after in both it's rarity and condition alone, this example has the added benefit of being a Curio & Relic eligible firearm, making for a seldom opportunity for one to acquire one of the first G3 rifles imported into the United States for their collection.
