(D) TREMENDOUS HIGH CONDITION WWI ERA 70MM ST CHAMOND HOWIZER ON ORIGINAL STEEL MOUNT (DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE).

Very attractive and high condition St Chamond 70mm howitzer as manufactured under contract for Guatemala in 1913. Numbers are matching between breech and breechblock (No 3) with other sub-assembly numbers below the “3” on various other breechblock parts. No guarantee that every breechblock part has “3” as we are not disassembling to check. Carriage trail has identification plate indicating, “No 10”. Dimensions are: 126" overall length muzzle to end of trail. 45" wide outer hub to outer hub. 34" high at highest point. The wheels are 28" high and the tube is 48" long muzzle to back of breechblock. Ammunition for this gun can be fabricated utilizing repurposed 70mm brass cases from the WWII era Japanese battalion level cannon. These are obtainable and then it is just a matter of adjusting the dimensions through resizing. This model of howitzer was manufactured in France and supplied to Belgium where it would have seen use in the Congo. It was also supplied to Mexico, and Guatemala (as this specimen was). Electronic NFA Registry indicates “SCHNEIDER-DUCREST” in the manufacturer’s block. This can be requested correction through the BATF is desired. CONDITION: Attractive uniform dull green repainted finish on all parts except for the breechblock which has the original painted finish thinning to a gray patina with remnants of green pain. The extractor and mechanics of gun are in fine condition. The elevation mechanism is a bit stiff but serviceable. Bore is extremely fine with strong rifling, getting dark in the grooves. Breechblock is very clean with extremely fine condition interrupting threads. Wood spoke wheels extremely fine, strong and serviceable. Metal tires also in good serviceable condition. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS A DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE. JWK 2026-05-048.
