This outstanding .45-70 caliber reproduction of the Navy pattern shrouded barrel Gatling gun with ten barrel cluster was manufactured by D.E. Williams and is beautifully marked forward of the Accles donut pattern drum magazine. "Manufactured by Colt's Patented Firearms Manufacturing Co. Hartford, Connecticut" engraved in large script. To rear of drum magazine is a 3-5/8" diameter name plate with spirit level inset in center and marked "Gatling Gun Patented". To rear of name plate, receiver is marked "Model 1883 No. 002 Cal. 45". This wonderful reproduction measures 52" overall length, and trunnions measure 1-1/4". Mounted on a brass yoke with crescent moon shaped friction bar, much like the original Navy mount of 1883. Thee entire unit is affixed to a contemporary manufactured carriage that is aesthetically pleasing however, great engineering liberties were taken during its manufacture and is not representative of any original carriage. This full size reproduction would be outstanding for reenacting, cowboy action shooting, or a fantastic centerpiece in one's gun room or office. CONDITION: Gun itself is very good overall with much tarnish on brass components from having been a centerpiece of a display for many years. Action and mechanics appear to function properly under manual inspection and operation. The carriage itself while aesthetically pleasing would be rated at fair condition as it appears rather frail. The large 19th century antique wheels are very weathered and are believed to be to weak for much actual use. This gun has a wonderful age patina to the point of looking very authentic and original.
