Superb example of the Auto Ordinance Bridgeport M1 Thompson complete with Lyman adjustable rear sight, Thompson bullet logo on top of receiver as well as on Cutts compensator. Number on metal of grip frame "1124" does not match receiver serial number. Small "S" proof mark visible on lower frame just forward of buttstock. Buttstock exhibits a hard plastic buttplate held in with Phillips screws. Included with this lot is a spare orig buttstock which has "A A" markings on right side indicating Augusta Arsenal. There are also four 30 round magazines included with this lot. The M1 Thompson with its side cocking bolt and Cutts compensator was the first step in making an easier to produce Thompson for military use as opposed to the more costly and time consuming earlier Thompson models. The M1 Thompson saw widespread use during World War II. Overall appearance and finish is simply outstanding. Extremely fine gray Parkerized finish with some of the machining marks visible under the finish. Markings are absolutely crisp and clean, indicating this is original finish. Wood is also very fine with a couple of small dings and a small chip at the right side base of the handgrip. Mechanics are crisp; bore is very fine, shiny and bright. Magazines in very fine condition, all are marked "U S Cartridge" with some slight flakes of corrosion from storage. This gun came from an estate collection which has numerous machine guns, many of which appear unfired. This is an exceedingly attractive Thompson that would fit well into any World War II military collection. Current registration form indicates in block 4a Manufacturer and / or importer of firearm, "R. W. URICH". THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4.
