Maget manufactured MG-42 machine gun marked “N.C.” and “cra” with Nazi proofs on receiver and other various places, indicating 1944 manufacture by Maget. Other Nazi proof marks in evidence are “cof” (Eickhorn) on top cover. Handgrip has Nazi eagle proof and especially attractive reddish bakelite grip panels. Feed tray is marked “bpr”. Bolt and barrel are also original Nazi. Nice "dfb 1944" bipod. 24 post-War 50-round belt segments, 6 post-War starter tabs, 2 spare mainsprings, a spare Nazi 8mm barrel, and an anti-bolt bounce insert for the bolt are included. Additional desirable accessories and spare parts are being offered as separate lots in this same auction. It is noteworthy that this gun retains its desirable bakelite buttstock, and has a spare buttplate insert and screw as well. Anti-aircraft flip-up post present at rear sight. Consignor states this gun runs well, and this has been well cared for with grease in the action. Spring tensions feel correct in all respects. Electronic NFA registry indicates “Form 2 Registration” as the manufacturer, however, registration form from consignor and incoming registration form to Morphys indicates "Germany Circa WW II Imported by Interarms, USA". CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent dull grey “dipped” refinish, including the barrel. This gun has tight rivets and overall appears to be in fine shooting condition. Reddish brown grips near excellent with some light handling marks. Buttstock extremely fine to near excellent. Bores of both barrels are near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a full-auto-only machine gun. This is a WWII gun that displays well, with clear visible Nazi markings and would also be a fine specimen to take to the range and enjoy.
