C.A.L. machine gun manufactured by Fabrique Nationale. The C.A.L. was designed and produced as an attempt at competing with a rapidly growing market of high-quality machine guns that were substantially less expensive to produce due to large advancements in stamped steel receivers and polymer furniture. Ultimately, the C.A.L. found little success in either the military or commercial markets, with production terminating in favor of FN's FNC line of machine guns. The left side of the receiver bears stampings stipulating FN's manufacturer information above the serial number and caliber designation, with the right side bearing an "L.E.S./ SKOKIE. ILL." stamp and Browning Arms Company stamp. Receiver features a gray enamel finish, with the lower assembly exhibiting a black enamel finish. Barrel and muzzle brake are parkerized, while the forend, pistol grip, and buttstock are comprised of black polymer. CONDITION: Excellent, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original enamel finish, exhibiting a few superficial marks from handling and storage. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well-defined rifling throughout. Polymer furniture exhibits a couple of superficial handling marks, but is otherwise fine.
