Superb Fabrique Nationale Light Automatic Rifle (LAR) version of the F.A.L. machine gun (French: Fusil Automatique Léger). Semi-automatic versions, designated “LAR” were imported into the United States, as this one was, by Steyr, Secaucus, New Jersey. Some of these, like this one, were converted to and registered as machine guns. This specimen is extremely attractive in high condition with a combination of wood forend and buttstock and composite handgrip. Note that the sight rail on top of receiver will make addition of a scope of choice straightforward. Two bipods are included with this gun, as well as a leather sling and one 20-round magazine. The FN-FAL was marketed worldwide and adopted by NATO forces in the Cold War era with great satisfaction and success. Electronic NFA registry indicates "FN (HERSTAL)" as the manufacturer; consignor indicated "Qualified Manufacturing". Left side of receiver marked, “.308 Match”. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent, a combination of blue and dark black enamel hardcoat finish. Near excellent furnishings with the slightest of handling marks. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt is near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. The FAL rifle has seen widespread military use in over 90 countries for over 3 decades. It is a highly effective full-power .308 battle rifle and is a top quality rifle caliber machine gun of the highest order of reliability. It would be pretty hard to upgrade the condition of this specimen. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. 2024-09-007.
