Very fine original Steyr manufactured MP40. Visible external numbers appear matching including hood, barrel, barrel nut, receiver tube, lower assembly, swing-out shoulder loop. Bolt is non-matching. Barrel resting bar is aluminum and in the white. Typical Nazi proof marks throughout "WaA623" denoting Steyr. Accessories include original leather sling, six original Nazi marked magazines, one magazine loader, and two reproduction magazine pouches. Lower assembly marked "bnz.43" indicating Steyr manufactured 1943. This gun has the pressed indentation at top of receiver which is typical of 1943 method of holding trunnion in place. The MP40 is among the most popular of the machine guns due to its simplicity, comfortable slow rate of fire, and iconic attractiveness to the World War II collecting enthusiast. Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine. Original finish with some loss of finish to grey patina at the high edges, thinning on the shoulder loop. Barrel has more of patina as does charging handle lock. Attractive brown Bakelite has a few handling marks. Black grips are extremely fine. Bolt face clean and extremely fine. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Magazines are fine with the occasional dings and spots of light corrosion. Sling and pouches very fine and serviceable. The MP40 is one of the best entry level machine guns, comfortable for a beginner as well as a fine historical investment. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE.
