Factory original three position pictograph selector Heckler & Koch MP5 registered receiver machine gun manufactured in 1984 according to “IE” mark on top of the receiver. Marked “Made W - Germany HK Chantily, Va” on right side of Magazine well, and “HK MP5” on top of receiver. This cataloger needs to emphasize the fact that this is a factory original MP5, not a remanufactured, or installed auto-sear gun. This specimen incorporates a fixed stock and horizontal forend. One original, curved, H&K manufactured magazine marked “IG” is included with this gun as well as a green web sling, and original red soft-cover manual, and a redacted copy of BATF letter showing this gun, by serial number, "bearing no "Sales Sample" restrictions". Other included provenance are redacted copies of the original importation documents dated April 26, 1984 and subsequent ATF Form 5's showing chain of custody to the current owner/consignor. Electronic NFA registry indicates “IMPORTED NFA FIREARM” in the manufacturer’s block. The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (BATF) has been and perhaps yet still is in the process of removing restrictions on what they call, "GOVT Use Exception" previously “Pre-86 dealer sample” restricted machine guns. This is one such gun and has been verified by the BATF by serial number as having had its restrictions removed and as such is now “Fully Transferable” to individuals. Manufacturer’s information such as, “Imported NFA Firearm” is NOT being changed incidental to this process. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent refinished semi-gloss black repainted finish with a couple light handling marks visible under the paint. Composite furnishings of buttstock and pistol grip are also near excellent. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. The very few factory original Heckler and Koch guns which are becoming fully transferable to individuals will undoubtedly command a premium now, and into the foreseeable future. Something for the discerning and forward-thinking collector/investor as well as the shooting enthusiast. This cataloger has seldom, if ever, seen such completely documented chain of custody on a formerly restricted NFA firearm. It is particularly interesting to note that although these documents are redacted, one can still see the hand-written "LAW ENFORCEMENT" annotation with only partially redacted initials of the BATF reviewing official. This paperwork makes this gun a bit of a standout from others of it's kind. THIS GUN IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS UNRESTRICTED - FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. THE SILENCER IS ALSO A NFA ITEM AND WILL INCUR A SEPARATE TRANSFER TAX IF TRANSFERRED ON A FORM 4. JWK 2025-12-176.
