Outstanding mint unfired condition Springfield Armory M1A-E2 machine gun complete with bipod marked "Bipod rifle M2", and three new in box 20 round magazines. The Springfield Armory M1A was produced in response to market demand for the US GI M-14 select fire machine gun. The M1A-E2 is a copy of the M-14 design and improves it with attached bipod, pistol grip wooden stock, and incorporates a fold down forward handgrip. Jim Edrington as the owner of Ozark Mountain Arsenal converted this gun to select-fire as an M-14 and so marked the receiver upon conversion. The M-14 was the successor to the M1 Garand and Browning Automatic Rifle within the American rifle squad, with the intention that any soldier issued it could be an automatic rifleman if needed. This gun utilizes the same rotating selector switch system as the GI M-14 to fire either semi-auto or full auto. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near mint with some slightly discernible marks to the wood where the bipod feet contact the wood when in the folded position. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is exceptional, shiny and bright. Wood is near mint. Consignor states he purchased this gun new and has never fired it. Forward thinking investors, don't miss this opportunity! THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2020-05-072
