Lot #1035:
(N) MARS EQUIPMENT CORP FRANCHI M1962 MACHINE GUN (FULLY TRANSFERABLE).
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/12/2026
Serial number 0001 as seen on the top of the receiver. This Italian 9mm machine gun was the predecessor of the Beretta PM-12, and the design dates back to 1957. In 1962 Franchi imported some of these guns as semi-automatic carbines through the MARS Equipment Company. Not very many made it into the United States before the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATF) halted the importation citing that these guns were too easily converted to machine guns. A small handful of imported semi-automatic guns were indeed registered and converted to machine guns as this one was. Selector is a button which passes horizontally through the top of the handgrip. When the right side of the button is flush with the side of the receiver (where there is an “A”) that is the fully-automatic position. When the left side of the button is pushed toward the left side of the receiver, this is the semi-automatic position. The grip safety on the front of the pistol grip must be depressed for the gun to fire. Four original 40-round Beretta magazines are included with this lot. Electronic NFA registry indicates “MARS EQUIPMENTS CORP” in the manufacturer’s block. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original smooth gray finish throughout. Magazines have a lustrous blue finish. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face extremely fine. Action operates when functioned by hand. This is a select fire machine gun. An exceptionally rare transferable machine gun in the United States. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2025-06-075.
