(N) OUTSTANDING HIGH CONDITION COLT THOMPSON 1921/28 NAVY OVERSTAMP MACHINE GUN (CURIO & RELIC).

Colt 1921/28 Navy Thompson with Cutts compensator and “U.S. Navy” marking above model marking on left side of receiver as well as “8” overstamp. “JHB” inspection mark clearly visible on right side of receiver as well as a slightly darker area of finish forward of the manufacturer’s address. Beautiful and clean Cutts compensator. Gun retains 1928 internal parts. Buttstock retains visible cartouche at leading edge. Accessories include one original matte finish 3rd model (1920s patent dates), 50 round drum magazine, ten 30-round stick magazines (two new in wrapper), two tan “Mills” marked 50 round drum carriers with straps, one “RM 1942” marked 50-round drum carrier with strap, two un-marked 50 round drum carriers, two “USMC 1944 R.M. CO.” marked 3-cell 30-round magazine pouches, and a Kerr sling. Although many Thompson machine guns were produced, especially during WWII, it is the Colt Thompson which is the most iconic of all American machine guns, and the ones with the Cutts compensator and vertical foregrip such are this one have the most recognized silhouette. Electronic NFA Registry indicates "THOMPSON" as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent deep lustrous finish with some light handing marks and slight scratches at some high edges and where the safety rotates. Also some slight loss of finish at the charging handle slot. There is a slight loss of finish to gray patina at the forward edge of the charging handle slot. 50 round drum has some loss of finish to a gray patina at the high edges. Stick magazines are extremely fine and were manufactured by various manufacturers, “SW Co, Seymour, and U.S. 30 Cartridge Co. Wood is near excellent with the slightest of handling marks. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. A very attractive and collectible example of the most popular and sought after of the Thompson machine gun models with the added appeal of having U.S. Navy connection. An extremely high condition specimen of this model. Remarkable condition of a remarkable gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
