M4/M16A2E (R0777) manufactured by Colt during a transitional period within the M16 family of firearms, as they were in the process of updating from the M16A2 to the M4. The left side of the receiver bears the Rampant Colt logo over "COLT/ M4/M16A2E/ CAL. 5.56MM" above the serial number. Models with this marking were only marked this way for several months and were very limited in their production, as Colt soon switched the markings to reflect the XM4 designation. Otherwise, standard configuration M4 carbine with M4 style barrel, A2 flash hider, bayonet lug, and a fixed A2 upper with windage adjustable rear sight. Ribbed forearm, checkered grip, and collapsible buttstock are comprised of black polymer. Selector is marked "SAFE", "SEMI", and "AUTO". Top of barrel is marked "C MP/ 5.56 NATO 1/7". This top condition rare example is accompanied by original factory box, plastic sleeve, and sealed bag of accessories. CONDITION: Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their original finish, exhibiting only a few minor superficial marks from handling and storage. Mirror bore, exhibiting fine rifling throughout. Bolt face is excellent, showing no evidence of having been fired since leaving the Colt factory, with the bolt carrier exhibiting some very light wear from cycling of the action. Polymer components are en-suite with the rest of the gun. A very desirable and high condition specimen of a briefly produced Colt M4 variation.
