Rather rare Japanese training machine gun which bears a resemblance to the Type 96 in rear sight, carrying handle and magazine housing, and to the Type 11 in barrel appearance. No magazine present. These guns were utilized at Soldier training schools in Japan and there were quite a variety of different models and styles produced. One thing they all had in common was that they were designed to shoot ONLY much reduced charge wooden projectile cartridges. There is no bolt locking apparatus in this training arm and firing a traditional cartridge in it would have catastrophic results. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIRE THIS ARM WITH STANDARD CARTRIDGES. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent original finish with some areas starting to turn a brown patina such as the cylinder, stock receptacle and towards muzzle of barrel. Stock is loose in it’s socket and the buttplate is loose on the stock. Charging handle slightly loose on bolt. Typical light handling marks and a couple noticeable chips out of the bottom of the pistol grip. Mechanics are functional albeit with play in the safety button. Smooth bore is fair with moderate pitting toward muzzle. Bolt face is good with pitting in a ring around the firing pin hole. This is a full-auto only machine gun. A nice display and conversation piece from the Japanese empire’s Soldier training system. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2019-10-127
