Desirable Armalite AR-18 machine gun with Costa Mesa address and added "STERLING ENGLAND" on left side of receiver with British Nitro proofs on right side of barrel, and one metal "By Sterling England" marked magazine indicating positively that this specimen made it to England and back again. The Armalite AR-18 was intended to be a refined development of the M16 and incorporates a side folding stock, adjustable rear flip-up peep sight, ambidextrous selector and ejection port cover which closes when the bolt is in the forward position. It is immediately recognizable by its distinctive bolt cocking handle. It was an early design to provide for a more compact weapon for our and other military forces. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish extremely fine to near excellent original finish with some light handling marks. Bore is near excellent shiny and bright. Bolt face is near excellent. This is a select fire machine gun. Very interesting piece with British proofs. Wish it could talk! A wonderful opportunity for the modern machine gun collector. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. CORRECTION: This gun was actually made in England by Sterling for Costa Mesa, and is one of only 1000 such specimens produced. These guns were manufactured with the intention to acquire government contracts. The registered manufacturer is on the current NFA registration form is Pearl Manufacturing Company.
