Superb condition U.S. Property marked M1A1 Thompson. Serial number on left side of receiver does not match number at bottom of trigger guard forward of handgrip. Typical proof marks on left side of receiver forward of magazine well with "P" proof at front of forend wood and front of front sight as well as on left side of barrel. Small "S" proof marks are visible forward of magazine well and also on lower frame assembly behind handgrip. Four 30 round magazines are included. The M1A1 Thompson with its horizontal forend, simple fixed peep sight, non-detachable buttstock, side cocking handle and not fitted with compensator was the cost effective military version of the earlier Thompson machine guns. This model cannot accept drum magazines and can only accept stick magazines. Overall appearance and finish simply outstanding. Gray/green orig Du-lite finish with clear Thompson bullet logo and U.S. Property markings on top of receiver. Wood is very fine with some slight handling marks. Mechanics are crisp, bore is very fine, shiny and bright. Magazines also very fine with lustrous blue finish with a couple spots of storage corrosion which should easily clean up. The M1A1 Thompson was widely issued and used by U.S. servicemen in World War II and is a highly sought after military collector's item. The condition of this specimen is sure to gain the attention of the WWII collecting enthusiast. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE.
