Colt Medium Frame Lightning slide action saddle ring carbine. Made 1891. 2 line company address/patent dates on the barrel in front of the rear sight. "44 Cal." marked on the left side of the chamber. Colt pony is not visible on the left side of the frame. Round steel barrel with blade front sight. Added Marbles style 3 position express sight. Metal components have a light coat of aftermarket finish. Saddle ring and stud are present. Oil finished wood stock and forearm, with fine checkering on the latter. Added sling swivels on the butt and barrel. Smooth metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retinas 50% of its finish with general wear and some brown patina forming. Wood has handling marks and scratches. There is a 2" hairline crack on the right side of the tang. Bore is frosted with some pitting. Good overall rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
