M49/57 submachine gun manufactured at the Zastava arsenal in Yugoslavia. While on the exterior the M49/57 exhibits key designs from the Soviet PPSh-41, the action shares more in common with Beretta's Model 38 design. This example is stamped with the Yugoslavian crest over "M49/57" on the top of the receiver, with the serial number present on the left side. Bottom of receiver bears an "IA - CO." import stamp. Features include a blue finish, 12" barrel, perforated barrel shroud, blade front sight, flip-up square notch rear sight with graduations from 100-200 meters, as well as a solid wood buttstock. Matching numbers are present on the receiver, barrel, and buttstock. This example is accompanied by 1 additional magazine. PROVENANCE: From the collection of esteemed NFA firearms enthusiast and collector J. R. Moody. CONDITION: Very good, with metal components retaining the majority of their blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear overall that show through to gray patina. Bright bore, exhibiting strong rifling throughout. Wood buttstock shows some scattered marks from handling and some minor impressions but is otherwise fine. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS ONLY ELIGIBLE FOR TRANSFER TO ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS AS A PRE-86 DEALER SAMPLE. MLW
