Circa earlier twentieth century, this classic piece is unusual as the rabbit is normally found in a cabbage or tree trunk. Oftentimes a piece such as this was not a child's toy but utilized for other purposes, possibly a window attraction in a fine men's clothier store. When the automaton is wound, the music starts, and the rabbit slowly twists while emerging from the top hat chewing away on his carrot and occasionally raising his ears as though he just heard something close by. A most amusing piece in an unusual form! As is typical with this particular automaton oftentimes rabbit hair would fall into the clockwork mechanism thus causing sluggishness to the action. Minor cleaning and blowing out of mechanism would ensure overall smoother and better movement.

Condition: (Excellent).
