Without a doubt this electrical/mechanical automaton, circa early twentieth century, was utilized in store windows to promote various goods and/or services. A variety of cards, 13 in all, could be easily interchanged as they were conveniently stored within the wooden cabinet. A plaque on the front of the cabinet indicates that this piece was of German manufacture. A handsome wooden cabinet the the male mannequin figure standing behind. Mechanism is contained within the cabinet and hidden from sight. In excellent working order with a variety of "advertising cards" contained within.
