Produced from September 1942-October of 1942. Documented history to the Battle of Saipan and as having been turned into the police after the Japanese were repelled from the island in July 1944. This rifle comes with letters from the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Department of Public Safety, releasing this rifle by serial number to the private collection of Aldo Burdi (along with several other supporting documents). These rifles had been in police storage since 1946 and had never gone through any rebuild program. All marked parts are correct Springfield to this gun including the inspector cartouche on left side (SA E.McF.). CONDITION: Surprisingly, this rifle survived in very fine condition. The chamber has a TE reading of 3 and an ME reading of 2+. The metal retains the majority of its dark parkerized finish and the stock, with some usual bumps and dents, has its original finish with sharp legends. A well-documented mid-war Garand that was in the midst of the fighting in the Pacific Theater. TDW
