This is a reproduced bomber or boat mount for the Italian Villa Perosa machine gun. It is an articulating seat with pulleys, cables and wheels designed to raise the pedestal shaft which holds the gun as the seat is lowered. Call it the early 20th Century version of the anti-Tie Fighter guns in the Millennium Falcon out of Star Wars. This mount rotates a full 360 degrees. The very positive base has feet which will stick into the ground and is, of course constructed with intention to be used for recreational shooting. This mount is a reproduction true to the original design, albeit heavier than the mount used on WW1 bombers and also small watercraft for the Villar Persoa machine gun.
