Undoubtedly Soldier used Russian model 1939 50mm mortar, complete with bipod and base plate. Detachable sight not present. NFA registry shows manufacturer as “Russian Federation”. The 1939 model Russian mortars were a conventional design largely unchanged from WW1 designed with a simple steel tube with fixed firing pin. What set the Russian mortars apart was an adjustable "micrometer-like" collar which rotates on the mortar tube base support shaft. As the collar is rotated it regulates the amount of propellant gas vented and adjusts the range the projectile is thrown. These mortars provided portable firepower at the tactical level. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish fair to good, mostly bare gray metal and brown patina with some finish remaining. Bipod wooden knob present. Mechanics are functional. Bore is dark with corrosion and pitting. A specimen from the “Great Patriotic War” which broke the back of the German Wehrmacht during WW2. Registered live and ready to take to the range. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS A DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE. JWK 2019-10-69
