Erb registered receiver tube numbered to match a visible matching numbered German WW2 MP-40 parts manufactured by “bnz” (Steyr) in 1941. Early “hook” type bolt also matches lower assembly number “3841e”. Numerous eagle over “623” proofs with Erb’s own added eagle proofs and Logo on the receiver tube. Erb went about making these guns from matching parts kits whenever he could, and had the foresight to realize that the guns would be more attractive if he numbered his registered receiver tubes to match. He did much to aid and abet the collecting and shooting hobby by putting registered tubes together with fine “kits” and taking the time and effort to mark them otherwise with attractive proof-marks. To the layman, there is little to no difference in external appearance between this and a pre-May 1945 brought back gun. Visible numbers appear matching including front sight hood, barrel, unmarked barrel nut, receiver, lower assembly, trigger guard, rear sight, bolt, and arms of swing out shoulder loop. An original leather sling, four original Nazi marked magazines and a U.S. green canvas 7 cell magazine pouch is included. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine combination of lustrous and dull refinish over slight handling marks with some pinpricks discernable in places. Magazines show more pitting under an old refinish, but original proofs are clearly visible and the magazines appear to be very serviceable. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is fine shiny and bright with some light pitting midway down. Bolt face is very fine. This is a full-auto only machine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. As the most recognizable German machine pistol of world war 2, the MP-40 needs no introduction to the WW2 collector or recreational machine gun enthusiast. Considered by many to be one of the best entry level historical machine guns, it is slow firing, from an open bolt, with magazines, parts, and ammunition readily available. A gun you will take to the range over and over for the sheer fun and simplicity of shooting it. This is a particularly attractive specimen. JWK 2019-10-004
