Very fine Auto Ordnance rebuild gun after return from World War II with flaming bomb proof on left side of receiver and “WB” initials near the ejector port. “AO” prefix added to serial number. Right hand receiver markings are typical “AUTO – ORDNANCE” with Bridgeport address. Barrel is a replacement with bullet logo Cutts compensator and no index marking at receiver. Lower is a mismatched Savage lower # S 176801 (maybe someone out there has the other half). Forend has side mounded sling swivel. One 30 round U.S. Cartridge Co magazine and web M1 Garand sling is included. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is very good original finish on metal parts, exclusive of barrel itself, mostly thinning and turning a gray patina with areas of brown patina. Lower assembly with much better blue coverage. Barrel is extremely fine to near excellent with dark blue finish on and extremely fine to near excellent shiny bright bore. Wood forend near excellent with a ding or two. Rest of wood exhibits more handling marks. Bolt face very fine. Mechanics are fine. This is a select fire machine gun. Very desirable and attractive barrel and forend on a ordnance proofed Thompson. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE ONLY TO ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 BUT MAY BE RETAINED BY SOLE PROPRIETOR FFL/SOT HOLDERS WHEN THEY RELINQUISH THEIR LICENSES UPON BATF APPROVAL.
