A very fine circa 1990 .600 Nitro Express with 25" chopper lump barrels. Beautifully acanthus leaf engraved dolls head extended quarter rib with express sights, one being standing marked for 50 yards and a second folding leaf sight marked for 100 yards. "WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO. ENGLAND" engraved ahead of quarter rib on a smooth concave rib which forwards to the matching engraved hooded and hinged blade sight with folding moon sight. Right barrel reads "W.R. .600 NITRO EXPRESS." Left barrel reads "REGULATED FOR 900 GR. BULLET". Underside of both barrels are stamped "PG" the barrels makers initials and the rifles serial number. Barrel flats are shiny and marked with the appropriate Birmingham proof marks "BNP" with a crown above it as well as ".600 / EXP 2860BAR" and date mark. Barrels also have loop for sling. "Westley Richards" engraved in gold on both sides of receivers case colored action. Vintage style floral scroll engraving with tiger in bush on left, leopard in bush on right, cape buffalo in bush on bottom of the blacked floor plate which is engraved ".600 NITRO EXPRESS." which is also inlaid in gold. Full length blacked trigger guard is engraved with tiger facing jungle from rear and serial number in gold on strap. Ahead of top lever on the action frame is the word "EJECTOR" inlayed in gold. Engraving by "P. J. V." as found along left side of front trigger. The rifles action consists of disc set strikers, third fastener, non-auto safety, and hinged front trigger. Water tables stamped with appropriate Birmingham proofs. The deep honey colored walnut stock has straight and strong grain through the pistol grip wrist then opens up to a lovely patterned smokiness. The stock also features a beaded cast of cheekpiece, case colored engraved grip cap box, large round gold initial plate, traditional Silvers style orange pad and loop for sling, drop points and triangular checkered side panels. The nicely checkered forearm has a rounded triangular horn tip, Deeley release mechanism and case colored iron. The Westley Richards Oak and Leather makers case is lined with a muted royal blue cloth, black and gold Westley Richards leather trade label. The case is fitted with a two piece wooden rod, powder flask, a pair of bone and nickel plated .600 snap caps, nickel plated striker pot, striker block, three horn handled turnscrews, polished tin box for spare backsight, pouch with pull through and pair of cleaning brushes. CONDITION: Near new. Barrels retain 98% original blue with minor surface marks. Rifling is crisp. Action is clean. Case colors are prominent showing approximately 98%. Engraving is sharp. Checkering is sharp on both stock and forend. Stock and forend are near excellent with some slight handling marks and spotting. Oak & leather case has outerwear most likely from storage and travel. Interior of case is very good. This handsome and robust .600 NE double rifle weighs approximately 15 lbs. 10 oz. CP
