Fine refinished Auto Ordinance Bridgeport M1 Thompson with small “S” proof on bottom of receiver indicating Savage manufacture. Includes one 30 round Bridgeport marked magazine. Gun has typical right and left receiver markings with fixed peep sight, smooth unfinned barrel, and non-detachable buttstock. The M1 Model Thomson machine gun is quite scarce in the collecting community simply due to the fact that there were not many made before the less costly to produce M1A1 was approved and put into production. Although the traditional firing pin within the bolt of the M1 worked just fine, the fixed firing pin on the face of the M1A1 bolt proved less costly and time consuming to produce to than any Thompson model predecessor. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent correct parkerized approaching 100% refinish with just the slightest detectable loss of finish at the bolt handle contact points. Stock has been lightly sanded and refinished and overall this gun presents just outstanding. Just a little softness to the “M1” and “NO” marking on the left side of receiver. Mechanics are crisp. Bore and bolt face near excellent. The Thompson is universally held in high regard by veterans, collectors, and also recreational shooting enthusiasts. For Thompson collectors, the M1 Thompson is often the last model they need to complete their collections. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
